Abstract

This study examines how knowledge of Pongamia (Pongamia pinnata), community governance, and feedstock readiness may be connected to support community-based bioenergy. A bibliometric mapping of 2,208 unique records retrieved through Elicit and Dimensions was complemented by a focused thematic synthesis of 32 articles (29 from the main corpus and three external contextual studies). Title–abstract mapping identified four broad thematic domains encompassing agroecology, community governance, bioenergy, and engineering. However, only a small share of the assembled corpus explicitly addresses Pongamia; consequently, thematic separation should not be generalized as fragmentation of the entire global literature. The thematic synthesis indicates that willingness to participate depends on planting material, extension support, trusted organizations, and credible economic benefits. The article develops preliminary design principles connecting seed resources, nurseries, participation, institutional arrangements, processing, and market access. The proposed framework is a literature-informed proposition rather than an empirically validated model for Lembata.
