Abstract

This research focuses on the communication interactions that occur between the community and the local government in Pasanggrahan Village, related to the use of social media in ecotourism development. The results of interviews with informants were classified based on the key elements of the digital divide, namely access, frequency, and information and communication technology. In terms of access, the interviews showed that the people of Pasanggrahan Village had very limited access to social media and depended on an unstable network. The frequency of using social media has an effect on people's skills in using social media, and these skills still need to be improved in Pasanggrahan Village. Advances in information and communication technology provide great opportunities in the development of ecotourism. Limited access and frequency of use of social media by the public has an impact on slow technological progress. The digital inequality that occurs in Pasanggrahan Village means that the people are not used to technology, including social media. Communication among village communities still prioritizes face-to-face meetings over the use of social media as well as in the context of using ecotourism. This reflects the low exposure to technology in the village. The people of Pasanggrahan Village need to be given the opportunity to develop skills in using social media to promote their ecotourism more effectively and efficiently. This will help improve the quality of life of the local community and expand the potential for ecotourism development in Pasanggrahan Village so that it can become more developed and attract tourists in the future and not just rely on tourists who have come to share their experiences.
