Translating a novel is not as simple as translating an article, because the novel contains many idioms. Idioms have complex meanings, limited objects, and a strong cultural background makes it difficult for Indonesians to translate the text. The research object of this paper is the Chinese-Indian translation skills of Chinese idioms in the novel "Shan Shan Lai Chi". Comparing the 251 idioms (332 translations) of the Chinese version of the novel with the Indonesian version, they are classified according to the translation methods adopted, and the translation skills and common translation skills used for the Chinese idioms in the novel are known. The image of the translated text appears to be long-winded and is mostly considered for the requirements of the context. Most of the translation techniques used are the deletion method (no translation of idioms, no translation of idioms and sentences) and translation according to specific situations, supplemented by other translation methods. That is, literal translation (complete literal translation, partial literal translation), free translation, ellipsis, incremental translation, and borrowing. According to statistics, the accuracy of the Chinese idiom translation of the novel is 90%, and the remaining 10% are inappropriately translated idioms or sentences, including inappropriate translations of idioms and inappropriate translations of entire sentences.
