EFFECTIVENESS OF KOKO CICI JAKARTA IN PROMOTING CHINESE CULTURE

Abstract


Koko Cici Jakarta has gradually developed from the initial selection of outstanding Indonesian Chinese youths to a Chinese youth group dedicated to spreading Chinese culture and promoting the image of Jakarta. This study aims to study the effect of the association in the process of spreading Chinese culture. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 30 representatives of the 2016 to 2018 Koko Cici Jakarta Competition and became members of the association, and references were made to some report information from relevant social media. The results of the survey prove that most members of the Koko Cici Jakarta Association have developed a strong interest in and a high sense of identity with Chinese culture through experience in the association. Almost all of the members have mastered and spread it vigorously. In terms of the form of external communication, mass communication is the main form, supplemented by organizational communication, and the communication channels are combined with physical activities and social media promotion, which complement each other. In addition, it often spreads Chinese culture in an all-round way through platforms such as government activities, social services, social networking, and media invitations. From the point of view of the dissemination effect, it can basically meet the expected assumptions, and has produced a good demonstration effect at the level of the public.
