Abstract

The "Chinese Bridge" Competition has become an important platform for students from all over the world to learn Chinese and understand China, and it has built a bridge of spiritual communication between young people in China and other countries. This article aims to study the development of the "Chinese Bridge" Competition for College Students in Jakarta and its impact on the participants. In order to obtain reliable information, two persons in charge of the organizers of the "Chinese Bridge" Competition were interviewed, and questionnaire surveys were conducted on 45 previous contestants in the past three years. The research results show that the "Chinese Bridge" Competition for College Students has been held for 17 years, and the participants are not limited to ethnic Chinese, but the number of non-Chinese is increasing. Most of the contestants believe that the "Chinese Bridge" Competition is helpful to improve their knowledge of Chinese language and Chinese culture, especially in the Chinese talent and impromptu question-and-answer sessions, which greatly promote the improvement of the contestants' level. During the investigation process, we also found that it is difficult to obtain the information of the early contestants, and the external promotion of the competition needs to be strengthened. It is recommended to post competition-related information and materials to a dedicated website or social media.
