Name is a necessary symbol for any member of the social group. The culture affects people's choice on name, while the name reflect the cultural content of society in a certain age. The paper, based on the composition, sequence, origin and characteristics of names, as well as its cultural concept and cultural connotation, compared the name of the Han nationality and the name of the BATAK ethnic group in Indonesia, and then analyzed the mutual influence of such two ethnic groups' respective cultures on the name, and the similarities and differences between the two ethnic groups' names.
